E.g. divide a 3 hour workout into 2 1.5 hour workouts to be done on the same day.
This would be really useful for those who have to fit training into smaller periods of time - they could do half the workout in the morning, half in the evening.
Or if it is a long workout made up of mainly zone 2 with intervals in the middle, the intervals could be done in the morning workout with the evening reserved for just zone 2.
