Integration with intervals.icu

Is it possible to integrate intervals.icu and JOIN? Would be nice to export the training plan into the intervals.icu program.

Thanks in advance

We have reopened this request. Given the strong support for this integration from our user base and our belief that Intervals.icu is a powerful platform for those who want to dive deeper into training data, we’ve reached out to David from Intervals.icu to discuss API integration. We are currently exploring the best way to implement a JOIN-Intervals.icu integration.

      This is great news.

I had a question. I know the plan is adaptive and workouts do change, but would it be possible to view more than 1 week forward via intervals.icu in a live/auto refreshed format. The visualisation on their platform for a broader training plan in advance is great, e.g. multiple weeks or even months in advance.

Agree with that! The absolute best integration would be to continuously auto sync the whole JOIN plan towards your goal with Intervals.

I'm glad to hear you're excited about the news!

Our plan is to sync only the week ahead, which aligns with what’s visible in the JOIN app. The reason for this is the adaptive nature of JOIN. Our plans are designed to evolve daily based on your daily progress, feedback, and input, which means the schedule can change dynamically. Due to this adaptability, it wouldn’t make much sense to show what your training could be on a Tuesday 3 months from now or even in 2 weeks for example.

That said, we value the feedback we receive from our community and take it into account as we continue to develop JOIN.

Yeah hear you on all the points, and the adaptive element. Would it still be possible to see maybe 2 or 3 weeks ahead? Obviously it could automatically update/sync based on the inputs in the app. I just feel seeing more than 7 days ahead would have massive improvement regarding planning. On a lighter rest week I feel I should know what Join has ahead for me over the following fortnight's block. Intervals.icu plotting expected fitness and workload would be a great benefit.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. As mentioned, syncing beyond one week isn’t part of our plans right now. Know that we pay attention to the feedback, and if we see more like yours, we might reconsider in the future.

I agree with the comments here, full integration with intervals.icu would be a game changer. One of the big benefits I can see from showing plans beyond one week is the ability to schedule gym session etc around your cycling/running training plan. Having full integration with intervals.icu will allow users to manage a short training block consisting of all of their different exercise methods. This will allow users to better plan ahead, which will enable more consistent training and therefore better use of the Join platform (it will also enhance subscriber retention).

This would be a great feature. I’ve recently signed up and am rounding in on my flow being tied together by intervals.icu - having the JOIN.cc workout push to intervals.icu and then onto Garmin would be solid from a workflow/ease and visualization perspective.

    Thank you for the request!

Next to downloading the suggested workouts manually, you are now (with our recent update) able to download the file from the Workout Player via email.

Also, you can setup a dropbox/drive integration via Intervals.icu to have some automation already.

Yea this “works” but a similar integration as with TrainingPeaks would be even better as it wouldn’t require any manuals steps or setup. Also, optional integration with their API could perhaps be possible?

On the intervals forum, this feature is also already requested:

So downloading a Zwift/zwo file from the email and manually importing indeed “works” but requires many manual steps. Something similar to TrainingPeaks would be a great addition.

The suggested integration with Dropbox doesn’t work as Intervals.ICU requires fit, tcx or gpx files. Only fit files can be exported by JOIN but these cannot be imported by Intervals.icu as a ln error is thrown with start_time is missing. So could this whole integration be improved and simplified?

      Hi Remy,

Why has this topic been closed? Is there an API between join.cc and intervals.icu?

If not, should we create a new request?

The topic was closed as we implemented a way to also export Workout Player activities to email. Also we saw that a Dropbox integration could be set up via intervals.icu to have some more automation.

However, I'm aware of the comments in this post, showing that this not fully meets the needs of the request. I will reevaluate with the team. Though, please know that we have limited resources and we have to make decisions on what to work on.

I will get back to you when we have new developments regarding this request.

          Bump 😉

I'm not sure how the Dropbox connection in intervals.icu helps. I don't think that it is right that this is marked as completed, as the need is not met at all.

It’s been a while since you post about reevaluating this integration with the team . Could you procedé some feedback about this?

As others already asked: 12 months has passed. Any update on this?

This integration (being able to export workout from JOIN straight to intervals.icu just like you can to Training Peaks) is the last piece I’m missing in my setup.

Emailing a fit file to myself and then manually uploading it to Intervals hardly classifies as integration ;)

Hi – I’m wondering if there have been any updates on this integration? @Remy van Tussenbroek - JOIN.cc

Hi, could join provide an update on the status of this integration as I has been requested for a while now ?

Meanwhile, I have been playing around with the Intervals API and created this Siri Shortcut (Shortcuts) that can be used on iPhones or MacBooks.

You only have to set your Intervals Athlete ID and API_KEY (both found in Settings under Developer Settings).

Now you can download/export the ZWO (for rides) or FIT (for runs) files from the JOIN app (you will receive an e-mail). Now, go to the downloaded file and use the iOS share sheet so you can automatically upload the workout to the date of your choosing (the shortcut asks for date and time).

If you are not planing desktop app with calendar view - extending this integration about supporting usecases of planing goals availability and reviewing history from Join would be very useful in training. So in other words you might use intervals ICU as calendar app for Join.

In Progress for 10 months? Status update?

Does the scope include RPE sync?

Would it also be possible to read activity data from Intervals.icu for those of us who don’t use Strava and have a Karoo 3 or use Suunto watches for running?

Yes, intervals.icu works so well at integrating with everything that Join should fully integrate with it to make it more device-agnostic. I also use a Karoo.

Any news about this? It is a pain to have to send my daily workout to intervals. :/
I do this daily because if i change the readiness that JOI assigned i will have a different workout, so, it not worth to send all week ahead workouts..
    Please, be quick. :D
Athletica.ai did this yesterday, so, you can do this asap too. :D

    Please integrate this function!

So I can sync my workouts to mywhoosh without trainingpeaks.

Is the in progress work for integration going to include Join receiving workout results from intervals? I have a Karoo 3 and I don’t use Strava. I run with a Suunto. Those all sync with Intervals.
